Transportation
Transportation
There are various ways a student can be transported to A. C. Alexander School.
•WALKERS-Any student who lives within a one mile radius of the school is considered a “walker”. Walkers must enter and depart from the FRONT entrance of the school.
•CAR POOL (In the rear of the school) No parent will be able to pick up/drop off their child from a parked car in the Muss Bertolino Gym parking lot due to safety reasons. This area is for continuous drop-off and pick-up in the back of the school.
•PARK AND WALK (In the front of the school) Use the parking lot to the east of the school (between the school and the North Kenner Library). Students must be walked to the front entrance of the school by an adult and picked up by an adult at the front entrance at dismissal due to safety reasons.
• BUS RIDERS-Alexander district students living more than a mile radius from the school will be assigned a bus by the JPPSS School System’s Transportation Dept. All students are expected to follow the JPPSS “Safety Guidelines for Students Riding School Buses” as listed in the policy handbook. These “guidelines” which may not cover every situation that may occur, are designed to create a safe environment for school bus students. It is requested that you read the “guidelines” in the handbook and retain them for future reference.
No student can be dropped off before 8:15 a.m. unless registered for Child Care. Teachers are on duty from 8:15-8:45 in the mornings and 3:30-4:00 in the afternoons.
THE HORSESHOE IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL IS FOR SCHOOL BUS DROP OFF/PICK UP ONLY.
Parents are not allowed to park their car and drop off/pick up students in the horseshoe area between the hours of 8:00-9:15 a.m. AND also between 3:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
Please note it is against the law to stop or park a vehicle to drop off/pick up a student on West Esplanade Avenue or outside of a designated pick up/drop off school zone.
We ask that all parents/visitors follow policy for the safety of all our Alexander students and families.
